Overlooking the spectacular Alzou canyon, Rocamadour, medieval city, 2nd site in France, attracts each year more than 1.5 million visitors or pilgrims who, sometimes still, climb the 226 steps of the grand staircase to their knees to reach the chapel miraculous which shelters its jewel, the Black Virgin, venerated for more than a millennium.
